Donetsk, Feb 22 - DAN. The recognition of the Donetsk People’s Republic by Russia opens a new chapter in the history of the Republic, DPR parliament speaker Vladimir Bidyovka told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“On behalf of the People’s Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic I thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for making such an important decision for our state,” Bidyovka said. “It’s a move that opens a new chapter in the history of the Republic, the history of peace and stability on the Donetsk soil.”

The parliament speaker congratulated all the Donbass residents with the recognition of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic.

“Donbass has been bringing this event closer step by step with its labor, principled position, faith in the right cause and the fight for justice,” Bidyovka said. “We greet the new day with new strength and hopes,” he said.

The decrees on the recognition of the independence of the Donbass Republics were signed in the Kremlin on Monday. The signatories were Russian President Vladimir Putin, DPR leader Denis Pushilin and LPR leader Leonid Pasechnik. The parties also signed agreements on cooperation between their countries. Putin ordered the Russian armed forces to maintain peace in the Donbass Republics. *jk
