Donetsk, Feb 10 – DAN. A DPR resident Radmir Kochanov has won the Talent of Russian Modern Art Competition, said the press service of the Donetsk Music Drama Theater where the winner works as an assistant to the chief designer.

Residents of the DPR presented 17 paintings at the contest, and Kochanov won all the three top awards in the Avant-garde category.

His “Gleams” won the first place, followed by “Having a Rest in Sedovo” and “Donbass – First Settlers”. Three other paintings by Kochanov received honor certificates.

“I am surprised in a good way, because you never know if you’re going to win,” the winner said.

You want to be aware of your audience. When you put your works on display, you have a chance to compare them with others’ paintings, and improve.”

Kochanov’s avant-garde art is a vivid, bold, and yet precise reflection of Donbass spirit. His pallet is a range of distinct colours merged into a saturated and vibrant, seemingly monochromatic imagery. Edgy shapes of a rural landscape depicted in “Gleams”, when examined by a curious eye, reveal human figures and fauna, whose smooth and delicate representation is streamlined by the surroundings, suggesting the integrity of testing Donbass nature and the power of people who tamed it. *ot
