Donetsk, Jan 15 – DAN. The DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko called Ukraine's decision to shut down MTS-Ukraine (Vodafone) services in Donbass a 'new round of information war' against the region's residents.

"We have faced information blockade. Or rather, information war has been raging throughout these years. Battalions of armchair warriors fabricated myriads of falls allegations disguised as 'news' from the Republic, concocted dozens of fakes. But the truth is our weapon, the one Ukraine struggled to confront in vain. Last week, Ukrainian butchers went further and shut down MTS-Ukraine (Vodafone) services in the DPR. Hundreds of thousand residents were deprived of the communication with their families on the other side of the contact line," Zakharchenko's statement published on his website reads.

He promised that the Republic will address the new challenge, the work is already being done. Zakharchenko said that was just another doomed attempt of Ukraine to strangle the DPR.

On January 11, the DPR was cut off from the last Ukrainian mobile carrier MTS-Ukraine (Vodafone) services after an emergency disconnection of communication channel outside Elenovka. Sales of DPR Phoenix mobile operator starter kits grew immediately. *ot
