Donetsk, Jul 15 - DAN. “United Russia’s” activity in Donbass has become a precedent for Russia’s ruling party, State Duma (lower house of the Russian parliament) deputy Andrey Kozenko told reporters on Thursday.
“The situation where the ruling party pays attention to a “special region” like Donbass is quite unique,” Kozenko told the Donetsk News Agency. “There are Russian citizens there whose interests have to be represented in our country’s top legislative body.”
“United Russia” faction member, first deputy chairman of the State Duma committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky holds a similar view. “United Russia’s programme has devoted whole sections to international support of our compatriots,” Volodatsky said. “It includes Russian language and literature, but it’s the first time that we have such a capacious and huge programme for Donbass socio-economic development,” the parliamentarian said.
Earlier reports said that the United Russia political party would draw up a three-year socio-economic development programme for Donbass.*jk
