Donetsk, Apr 11 - DAN. Ukraine has lost control of the situation at the coalmines that stopped operation in Donbass region areas remaining under its control, DPR and LPR envoys to Minsk talks Denis Pushilin and Vladislav Deinego said in a joint statement.
“The situation is catastrophic at the stopped mines. Water drainage systems are not funded, inundation level is not controlled. This information came from reliable sources in grassroot trade union organisations and coalminers who came to work in DPR,” the envoys said.
“Coalmine inundation is fraught with serious consequences for water supply in the first place. The key water intakes feeding the Lugansk People’s Republic are in the coalmine inundation zone located in Kiev-controlled territory.
“In this connection, of greatest concern are the Toshkovskaya, Zolotoye, Karbonit, Rodina and Gorskaya coalmines (in Kiev-controlled part of Lugansk Region - eds Donetsk News Agency). To ensure their safety, our experts recommended to take measures to reinforce the existing underground drainages or build a new one with submersible pumpsets,” Pushilin and Deinego said.
DPR and LPR repeatedly drew the Global community’s attention to the dire situation in the sector. “We continue to insist on the soonest inspection of companies in Kiev-controlled part of Donbass by specialists of international public organisations and our experts,” the statement said. *jk
