Donetsk, Sep 8 - DAN. Russian President’s aide Vladislav Surkov congratulated Denis Pushilin and the Donetsk People’s Republic parliament on the important decisions made on Friday.

“The voting showed a high level of political culture, solidarity and the Donbass People’s resolve to continue the struggle for peace and residents’ right to decent living standards,” Surkov said.

He wished Denis Pushilin success at the key position and assured him of his support.

Surkov expressed the hope that Pushilin would continue to pursue the political course of Alexander Zakharchenko who died a tragic death, and ensure consistent foreign and domestic policies.

On September 7, the DPR parliament appointed Denis Pushilin acting Head of the Republic. Pushilin thanked the lawmakers for their confidence in him saying that he planned to step up the work of the Council of Ministers.

DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko was killed in an explosion in central Donetsk on August 31.

Also on Friday, the parliament set November 11 as the date for parliamentary and Head of the Republic elections and appointed the Central Election Commission. *jk
