Donetsk, Aug 31 -DAN. Russia’s Investigative Committee (SK) instituted criminal proceedings over the wounding of two children in Gorlovka and a man in Donetsk as a result of Ukrainian army strikes, the SK press service reported.
“The Investigative Committee filed criminal cases under Article 356, Part 1 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (use of means and methods in the armed conflict banned by an international treaty),” the SK said. "Such crimes have no statute of limitations, and the evidence gathered by the Investigative Committee will sooner or later be considered by courts which will try those who issue and executive criminal orders.”
In both cases, Ukrainian forces delivered aimed fire at civil infrastructure facilities. Investigations said that the suspects had violated the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War and 2nd Protocol Additional.
The DPR Prosecutor General’s Office also instituted criminal proceedings over these facts. The investigators said that on August 28, servicemen of the Ukrainian army’s 10th Mountain Assault Brigade were ordered by their commander Vyacheslav Kotlik to fire at Gorlovka’s central town district. Two children were wounded in the shelling and a house and a car were damaged. The next day, 28th Mechanized Brigade commander Maxim Marchenko ordered his subordinates to open fire at Donetsk’s Petrovsky district. As a result of the shelling, a civilian suffered shrapnel wounds.*jk
