Donetsk, Oct 6 — DAN. Interim Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin has been nominated for the post of secretary of the Donetsk regional branch of the “United Russia” Party, the Party’s press service reported.
The nomination was proposed at the Thursday meeting of the “United Russia” General Council by its Secretary, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council (upper house of the Russian parliament) Andrey Turchak. Turchak also proposed to nominate Lugansk People’s Republic parliament speaker Denis Miroshnichenko for a similar position in Lugansk, Melitopol administration head Galina Danilchenko in the Zaporozhye region, and deputy head of the “United Russia” faction at the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament, coordinator of the Party’s humanitarian mission to the Kherson region Igor Kastyukevich in Kherson.
“We’ve built a Republic of free and equal people whom no trials can break; each of our steps aims to reach objectives — only forward, only with Russia. The Donetsk Republic and ‘United Russia’ are brought together by loyalty to our big Motherland and the wish to help people; there’s very much work to do, but we’re certainly not afraid of difficulties, ” Pushilin said in response to the proposed nomination.
Earlier reports said that “United Russia” had eased the procedure to join the party for Russians living in the DPR and LPR. The Party immediately grants membership to the applicants bypassing the stage where they have the status of supporters. Previously, Donbass residents who obtained Russian citizenship, as well as other Russian citizens had to remain in the status of supporter for at least six months before becoming a Party member. “United Russia” opened membership applications in July 2021.*jk
