Donetsk, Sep 14 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic has set up an interdepartmental commission to look into the activities of former senior Tax and Revenue Ministry officials, DPR parliament deputy speaker Olga Makeyeva said on Friday.
“Yesterday, acting DPR Head Denis Pushilin ordered to set up an inter-departmental commission. It will include personnel of the State Security, Interior and Finance Ministries. The DPR Prosecutor General’s Office will supervise the Commission’s operation,” Makeyeva said.
She made the statement at the first session of the DPR parliament’s interim commission for investigating illegal practices of Tax and Revenue Ministry officials which was held earlier on Friday.
"As of now, there have been quite a few complaints from businesses and natural persons about illegal actions by the former Tax and Revenue Ministry leadership", Makeyeva said.
Both commissions will closely cooperation in the probe. Earlier reports said that the parliament’s Commission had been tasked with reviewing complaints about the Ministry’s illegal practices and supplying the evidence, if any, to the Republic’s law-enforcement bodies.
Large DPR agribusinesses and transport companies had accused the Ministry and specifically its former head Alexander Timofeyev of property takeovers that lost them hundreds of million rubles. Timofeyev was relieved of his duties on September 7. Yevgeniy Lavrenov was appointed acting Tax and Revenue minister. The new Tax and Revenue Ministry leadership said that one of the priorities was to check the legitimacy of property redistribution in the Donetsk People’s Republic.*jk
