Donetsk, Feb 22 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic parliament has ratified a friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance treaty with the Russian Federation at the extraordinary session on Tuesday.
The treaty was signed by DPR Head Denis Pushilin and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on Monday. It provides for joint defense, the parties’right to use military infrastructure and military bases on the territory of the two states and mutual recognition of documents. Russia also pledged to support the DPR financial and banking sector. The Treaty was signed within the framework of the decree on the recognition of the independence of the Republic.
The parliament supported the ratification in a unanimous vote. The State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament will vote on the ratification at noon on Tuesday. The treaty comes into force after the exchange of the instruments of ratification. The document has been concluded for ten years with five-year automatic prolongation if none of the parties declares its intention to terminate its operation. *jk
