Donetsk, Mar 15 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic Head Alexander Zakharchenko arrived in Simferopol on Thursday to take part in the events marking the 4th anniversary of Crimea’s reunification with Russia.

“DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko arrived in Crimea to take part in the events marking the 2014 All-Crimea Referendum Day and Day of Crimea’s Reunification with Russia,” Zakharchenko’s press office reported.

The DPR delegation includes Council of Ministers deputy chairmen Dmitriy Trapeznikov and Alexander Timofeyev.

The main events will take place on Friday, March 16. The DPR officials are expected to sign an agreement on establishing twin district relations between the DPR’s Starobeshevskiy district and the Republic of Crimea’s Bakhchisarai district, according to the press office. The delegation plans to lay flowers to the Monument to Polite People and attend a rally and a concert in Simferopol’s main square.

At the All-Crimea Referendum on 16 March 2014, an overwhelming majority of peninsula residents (95 percent) voted for reunification with Russia. On that day, large queues formed at the voting stations. Representatives of 23 countries monitored the voting. Two days later, a historic agreement was signed in Moscow on two new territorial entities - the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol - joining the Russian Federation.*jk
