Donetsk, Feb 8 - DAN. Donetsk has had no contacts with Moscow over weapon supplies, Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin said in an interview with Reuters.

“First of all we rely on ourselves, but we do not rule out that we will be forced to turn to Russia if Ukraine, with the support of Western countries, passes a certain line," Reuters quoted Pushilin as saying.

He noted the importance of the statement by “United Russia” General Council Secretary, Federation Council First Deputy Speaker Andrey Turchak on the need to send weapons to the DPR and the LPR.

The DPR leader said that a full-scale war could break out anytime and that Donetsk would probably have to turn to Moscow for support. The head of state noted that the People’s Militia needed radioelectronic warfare and air defence systems to counter Turkish drones which Kiev can use in Donbass.

In late January, Andrey Turchak called for supplying certain kinds of armaments to the Donbass Republics to enhance their defense capability and contain the military aggression for which Ukraine was obviously preparing. Prominent Russian politicians and activists supported the initiative. *jk
