Yalta (Republic of Crimea), Jun 6 - DAN. DPR educational institutions have completed the transition to schooling in Russian language, the Republic’s head Alexander Zakharchenko told Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“DPR comprehensive schools have implemented phased transfer to Russian as language of instruction over three years starting in 2014,” Zakharchenko said.

At that time, Russian was language of instruction for 50 percent of DPR schoolchildren, while in 2015, 88 percent of pupils took subjects in Russian. At present, this indicator has reached 100 percent.

Russian is a state language in DPR. The Republic’s authorities pay much attention to the development of Russian culture.  DPR increased Russian language and literature study hours at schools and arranged Russian language courses for teachers.

June 6 is The Day of Russian Language which is marked with various events in Russia with Crimea among the regions hosting major events. *jk
