Donetsk, Apr 30 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic migration authorities will start accepting Russian citizenship applications on May 3, the DPR Interior Ministry press service reported on Tuesday.
“Individuals permanently residing in certain districts of Ukraine's Donetsk and Lugansk regions and having a DPR passport have the right to apply for Russian citizenship using a simplified procedure,” the report said. Applications can be submitted at the Migration Service Office at Khodakovskiy Street, 10 starting Mary 3, 2019.
On May 7, 33 Migration Service branches across the Republic will begin providing consultations to Russian citizenship applicants and accepting their documents.
“The documents then will be sent to the Migration Service for verification, filing and subsequent forwarding to the Russian Interior Ministry department for the Rostov region. The application review period is up to three months, in case of positive outcome, the DPR will arrange transportation of groups of residents to Russia for collecting new passports," the Ministry said.
The Donetsk News Agency website details the Russian citizenship procedure.
On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the degree on determining groups of foreign nationals eligible to obtain Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure. The document specifically eases Russian citizenship rules for residents of the Donbass Republics.*jk
