Donetsk, May 10 – DAN.  The DPR held a traditional military parade on May 9 in the center of Donetsk to commemorate the 76h anniversary of the Victory in the WWII.

Thousand of spectators watched People's Militia, emergencies ministry, and law enforcement crews march along the Artyoma street, followed by cadets and conscripts of People's Militia military course. The total of 1,600 personnel took part in the parade.

The mechanised column was headed by a legendary WWII-era T-34 tank. This tank was part of the memorial complex on Saur Mogila, which was in the thick of fighting in 2014. The specialists who restored it in 2017 said it was battle worthy again.

Modern equipment was represented by DPR people's militia equipment and pieces seized from Ukrainian army. PTS-2 amphibious transport was showcased in the parade for the first time. The total of 76 equipment pieces rolled through the central Donetsk street.

The parade was followed by the Immortal Regiment March, people carrying the portraits of their family members who took part in the Great Patriotic War.

Traditionally the Parade is held on May 9 to commemorate the ending of the Great Patriotic War and victory over Nazism in the WWII; in 2020 it was postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus infection. The parade took place on June 24 marking the 75th anniversary of the first Victory Day parade in Moscow’s Red Square in 1945.*ot
