Donetsk, Aug 5 - DAN. Ukrainian secret services launched an operation to unsettle the political situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic after the murder of DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko, the Republic’s State Security Ministry (MGB) said on Wednesday.

“Ukrainian secret services, after carrying out the terrorist attack to kill DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko, stepped up their activity trying to destabilise the political situation in the Republic,” the Ministry said.

The MGB said that all the mass media outlets controlled by Ukrainian secret services, including online media, were directly involved in the information war. They engage in outright propaganda and take special measures to misinform the international community, cause panic and compromise confidence in the Republic’s government bodies.

“The DPR State Security Ministry calls upon DPR residents not to yield to misinformation provocations by Ukrainian or foreign media outlets aimed at unsettling the situation in the Republic,” the MGB said adding that trustworthy information was available on official DPR websites.

An explosion ripped through the Separ restaurant in the centre of the DPR capital at around 17:00 on August 31, killing the Republic’s Head Alexander Zakharchenko and his guard. Twelve people were wounded; five of them were hospitalised and outpatient treatment was provided to another seven.*jk
