Donetsk, Dec 6 — DAN. Ukrainian armed formations have shelled the Stirol chemical factory in Gorlovka twice on Tuesday, town administration head Ivan Prikhodko said.

“Updated reports said that an enemy projectile exploded on the premises of the Stirol factory in Gorlovka’s Kalininsky district damaging the solution regenerator and an air cooler unit, ” Prikhodko said.

Ukrainian gunmen shelled the factory at 7:30 and 13:00. The factory’s boiler shop and ultra- and nanofiltration facilities were damaged in the first strike.

Gorlovka authorities said that the “Dikon” company in the Rtutny neighborhood and three apartment houses in the Gurty settlements had been damaged, too.

“Stirol” is a key chemical industry company in Donbass. It was one of Europe’s largest producers of mineral fertilizers for a long time accounting for 3 percent of the world’s exports of ammonia and other chemicals and compounds thereof. Stirol suspended operation as fighting broke out in the region.*jk
