Donetsk, Mar 23 — DAN. One hundred people in the Donetsk People’s Republic have triggered “Lepestok” anti-personnel mines since last summer, the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes (JCCC) reported on Thursday.

“As of March 23, 100 civilians including nine children have caused PFM-1 ‘Lepestok’ anti-personnel mines to explode, ” the JCCC said. “Three victims died of their wounds.”

In the latest incident which occurred in Donetsk’s Petrovsky district on Wednesday, a 35-year-old man was wounded in a “Lepestok” explosion.

PFM-1 is a highly unstable pressure activated mine; even the slightest movement can cause it to explode; some varieties can self-destruct. It is deadly for children and can cripple adults for life or even kill. Ukrainian gunmen have been using remotely-delivered “Lepestok” anti-personnel mines against the DPR since the summer of 2022.*jk
