Donetsk, Jul 21 — DAN. The Appeals Chamber of the Donetsk People’s Republic Supreme Court has sentenced Ukrainian citizen Sergey Beshta to 16 years in prison for espionage and terrorism as a member of an organized group, the DPR Territorial Defense Headquarters said on Thursday citing the State Security Ministry (MGB).

 “S.Beshta was found guilty of the commission of crimes, ” the HQ said in a report. “He was sentenced to 16 years in a maximum security penitentiary.”

On July 7, 2022, the Appeals Chamber heard the criminal case against Beshta which had been investigated by the MGB. He was charged under DPR Criminal Code Article 321 (espionage), Article 233, Part 2 (participation in a terrorist group), Article 232 (training for terrorist activities), Article 256, Part 3 (illegal acquisition, sale, keeping, transportation or carrying of firearms and explosives as a member of an organized group) and Article 260, Part 3 (trafficking of weapons, explosives, military hardware and poisonous or radioactive substances). The defendant was found guilty on all counts.*jk
