Donetsk, Nov 7 — DAN. Ukrainian gunmen overnight to Monday delivered a strike at the railway administration building in Donetsk’s Voroshilovsky district starting a fire which Emergencies Ministry personnel are still trying to extinguish.

The building is located right in the city center next to Lenin Square. The strike was delivered at around 3:13.

The Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes reported that Ukrainian armed formations had fired six 155mm rounds.

The Emergencies Ministry press service said that the first fire brigades rushed to the scene six minutes after the fire alarm. A fire source was found on the second floor of the building which had been hit by a projectile. Some 60 personnel and 18 pieces of equipment are involved in firefighting.

Firefighters spent nearly two hours clearing the debris to make a passage for the fire engines, local residents said. The rescuers managed to connect to an underground reservoir in one of the yards and prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings in Artyom Street. The firefighting is ongoing.

Utility services personnel have been clearing the debris in nearby streets since daybreak.

Donetsk mayor Alexey Kulemzin said that trolleybus traffic on route No 2 had been suspended because of the shelling. A temporary bus link from Marriage Registration Hall to Railway Station was launched.

The enemy also shelled Yasinovataya at night damaging the building of the first aid center, ambulances and more than dozen homes. No casualties were immediately reported.*jk
