Donetsk, Sep 24 - DAN. Rescuers evacuated to the surface 60 workers after a fire broke out at the Zasyadko colliery, but one miner is unaccounted for, the Donetsk People’s Republic Emergencies Ministry reported on Friday.

”There were 61 workers in the mine at the time of the accident, including 26 in the affected area,” the report said. “At 4:45, all people were brought to the surface except one miner.”

The urgent search for the missing person yielded no results. It extended to the place of high smoke concentration and had to resume after air flow reversal which began at 4:57, local time.

The Emergencies Ministry sent 13 pieces of equipment and more than 60 personnel to the scene.

Earlier, the Zasyadko colliery fire was reported by Donetsk mayor Alexey Kulemzin. He said that fire broke out as on overfilled conveyor belt. General air flow reversal was activated to eliminate the aftermath of the accident.

Commissioned in 1958, the Zasyadko colliery is one of the largest in the region. It is located in the Donetsk’s frontline Kievsky district and has repeatedly come under Ukrainian forces fire. *jk
