Donetsk, Jun 21 — DAN. The town of Yasinovataya comes under Ukrainian armed formations fire every day; 1,400 pieces of infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed since the beginning of escalation on the contact line, Yasinovataya mayor Dmitry Shevchenko told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“As many as 1,400 pieces of infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed in Yasinovataya since the fighting resumed (on February 17 — eds Donetsk News Agency); of those, 80 percent are the housing stock, ” Shevchenko said. “The remaining facilities belong to civil, industrial or trade infrastructure. On the whole, the situation is difficult; the town is shelled every day.”

“People get killed or wounded nearly every day; it is not safe to move around in the town. The only road which links us with large DPR towns is permanently under fire. Several people were killed as they were driving along the road, ” the mayor said.

Despite the shelling, social infrastructure facilities, shops and pharmacies continue to operate in the town.

Yasinovataya is a frontline town north of Donetsk with a population of 30,000. It is also a large railway hub. The town and its outskirts have been under constant Ukrainian forces fire since the beginning of the Donbass conflict.*jk
