Donetsk, Oct 5 — DAN. Four children have been injured in the detonation of a cluster bomblet delivered by a Ukrainian artillery round; one of the victims later died of his wounds, town mayor Ivan Prikhodko wrote on his Telegram channel.
“A new tragedy! Four children have been wounded, ” Prikhodko said.
Town Hall Dispatch Office employees confirmed the information to the Donetsk News Agency adding that Ukrainian forces had attacked the town about an hour ago. They targeted the Kalininsky district which has been shelled since Thursday morning. Rescuers are working at the scene.
Later on, Ivan Prikhodko said that the explosion occurred when the children were trying to disassemble unexploded Ukrainian cluster munitions. One of the youths died of his injuries.
Prikhodko’s report said that the number of fatalities among residents had risen to two and the number of injured to nine. The Ukrainian artillery attack also damaged a cultural center.*jk
