Donetsk, Nov 2 – DAN. DPR Ministry of State Security (MGB) has uncovered another attempted recruiting of a Republican resident by Ukrainian special services, the ministry said.
"Vasiliy Tatarov, year of birth 1983, turned himself in to the Ministry to report that Ukraine's security service attempted to recruit him. He travelled to Kiev in late 2018 with his family to obtain an international passport."
He was denied the passport and decided to return to the DPR. As Tatarov arrived to the Maryinka checkpoint, security service officers approached him and offered assistance in obtaining an international passport in exchange for material reward, and asked him to smuggle a "mobile communications terminal" to the DPR.
Tatarov refused and reported the incident to the MGB. His further activities were coordinated with the agency.
As he was crossing the checkpoint again, Ukrainian officers tried to recruit him for the second time, this time resorting to psychological pressure and blackmailing, saying that Tatarov might be arrested as an accomplice to terrorists as his father is a DPR service member. Tatarov was forced to smuggle a box allegedly containing a photo camera.
"As Tatarov crossed into the DPR via the Alexandrovka checkpoint, he handed the box over to the DPR Security. It turned out to be an explosive device."
Tatarov was fully exempted from any liability as he willingly reported the incidents and did not compromise state security. *ot
