Donetsk, Mar 4 - DAN. A Donetsk People’s Republic police officer was killed in Ukrainian sniper fire on Wednesday, the DPR Interior Ministry press service reported.
“DPR militiamen on the contact line in the town industrial zone area reported to the Yasinovataya police department at 11:30 that they had sighted several children between the positions of Ukrainian forces and DPR militia units,” the report said.
The team of police officers that was sent to the scene at noon to evacuate the children came under Ukrainian forces fire, according to the Ministry.
“Junior Sergeant V. Voina suffered a fatal wound; his colleagues were unable to evacuate the children,” the DPR Interior Ministry press service said.
DPR police had repeatedly stopped children from Ukrainian-held territory from entering the contact line area before.*jk
