Donetsk, May 13 – DAN. The DPR law enforcement have uncovered an organized crime group that operated at the Donetsk South customs post, the Interior Ministry said.
"The police have curbed the activity of the crime group. Its members extorted money from entrepreneurs."
The group included the head of the post, his deputy and the head inspector. They are accused of extorting money from businessmen under the pretext of "acceleration of goods clearance and dropping charges for customs rules violations."
The police have recorded over 20 occasions on which the crime group received bribes, including from the trade companies.
The money were distributed between the members of the group.
The suspects are facing up to 12 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain posts for up to three years, and are subject to fines equivalent to the sixty fold amount of the bribe. *ot
