Donetsk, Sep 8 - DAN. The establishment of a common economic zone will enable the Donbass Republics to accelerate changes in the economy and social sphere, Donetsk People’s Republic parliament speaker Vladimir Bidyovka told the Donetsk News Agency on Wednesday.
“First of all, the development of socio-economic programs is a natural event which fits into the logic of the strengthening of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,” Bidyovka said.
Earlier reports said that to implement these programs, the DPR and the LPR would sign inter-state treaties on the establishment of common economic space. It is planned to raise the standard of living and upgrade the healthcare system, civil infrastructure and public utilities.
“The programs are ambitious, but they can facilitate the necessary transformations in our states which are our objective,” the parliament speaker said.
The first steps to harmonize the legislation were made by the Republics’ first parliaments which signed a cooperation agreement, he said.
“The executive and legislative branches have carried out much work to harmonize the tax, customs and civil legislations, per orders by the heads of states,” the politician said.
One of the first moves is the abolishment of customs points on the border between the Republics on October 1. A common domestic market will function where uniform tariffs and external trade regulations will apply.*jk
