Donetsk, Dec 6 – DAN. DPR's only agricultural machinery manufacturing enterprise located in Donetsk’s frontline area resumed operation on Tuesday, two year after it wa shut down as Kiev launched an offensive on Donbass.
Donbass-Agromash is situated in Donetsk’s Kiyevskiy district in the vicinity of the airport. It will manufacture towing and attachable implements, such as cultivators and disc and spike harrows for hoeing. Part of equipment will be manufactured to company’s original design.
“Donbass-Agromash” is resuming operation today. In fact, it is the only company in the republic specializing in agricultural equipment,” Industry and Trade Ministry Machine-Building Department head Sergey Ladygin said.
According to the Ministry, Donbass-Agromash’s monthly output reaches 20 machines. Production of rollers is to be launched in the future. At present, the company manufactures 15 kinds of products.
“We’re located slightly more than one kilometre from Spartak village and some five kilometres from Avdeyevka. In 2014, the company often came under Ukrainian forces fire. It is fully restored by now; we had to do re-glassing, replace the power cable and repair the damaged machine tools,” company director Andrei Lerman said.
Donbass-Agromash plans to supply agricultural equipment to DPR and LPR agri-businesses. In the future, it will eye destinations outside the Republic.
Earlier, DPR relied on Russia-supplied sowing and harvesting equipment. By the autumn of 2015, Russia had supplied 150 units of agricultural machinery to DPR as part of humanitarian assistance, including 30 combine harvesters, 20 tractors and 100 towed machines. *jk
