Donetsk, Jan 17 – DAN. Welfare payments make up nearly half of DPR budget expenditure in the first quarter of 2017, the Republic’s Finance Minister Ekaterina Matyuschenko told Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“DPR’s 1st quarter budget is community-oriented, with benefit payments to the population making more than 45 percent of expenditure,” Matyuschenko said.

The budget earmarks funds for the projects to shut down unprofitable coalmines. By and large, budget policy principles in planning and implementation have not changed from the previous year.

“We administrate budget so as to improve people’s welfare, helping low-income strata in the first place. To this end, we continuously interact with all DPR ministries and departments,” the minister said.

Budget spending is based on expenditure requests by the Republic’s ministries, departments and local administrations. Revenue estimates rely on the data provided by DPR Tax and Revenue Ministry and local fiscal departments, she said. *jk
