Donetsk, Jul 25 - DAN. Ukrainian servicemen sell expensive arms and equipment to DPR militiamen at cheap rates, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.
“As in the past, Ukrainian army remains the main supplier for DPR armed forces,” Basurin said. “Several days ago, servicemen of a Ukrainian army unit on Mariupol axis provided unmanned aerial vehicles to our defenders for permanent use. Ukrainian soldiers sell expensive USA–made UAVs for a song.”
The military official explained that Ukrainian contract servicemen were trying to line their pockets before military discharge.
This kind of behaviour stems from the extensive system of fines practiced by each Ukrainian army unit. For example, a soldier can lose half of his military compensation for criticism of the Ukrainian government, Basurin said.*jk
