Donetsk, Jun 23 - DAN. Ukrainian security service officers used force to detain a Donetsk People’s Republic resident at the Novotroitskoye crossing point, the DPR People’s Militia reported on Tuesday.
“Yesterday, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) used force to detain a DPR citizen as he was crossing the contact line between the DPR and Ukraine-held territory. The man was going to visit his relatives in Volnovakha. The SBU did not give the reasons for the detention,” the report said.
The detainee is currently at the SBU’s Mariupol department, the DPR militia said. He is being pressed into giving false evidence of his participation in fighting against the Ukrainian army.
“It is not the first such incident. At present, we’re making efforts to secure the release of a Konstantinovka resident from SBU detention,” a DPR militiaman said.
The DPR militia urged UN humanitarian mission representatives to contribute to the release of the detainees, and warned DPR, LPR and Ukrainian citizens to be cautious for the sake of their lives and the safety of their relatives.
On June 22, the DPR opened the Yelenovka crossing point south of Donetsk. Later on, the Novotroitskoye crossing point on the Ukrainian side was opened.*jk
