Donetsk, Feb 28 – DAN. The situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic has escalated, Ukrainian forces fired at the Republics’ territory 2,373 times over the past 24 hours,” DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said.
“Kiev forces used heavy artillery 22 times, tank guns – 73 times, mortars - 879 times including 120mm mortars (398 times), infantry fighting vehicle cannons - 142 times, and anti-aircraft guns, grenade launchers and small arms 1,257 times,” Basurin said.
On Donetsk axis Alexandrovka, Trudovskiye, western Petrovskiy district, airport area were shelled.
Yasinovataya area continuously comes under fire, including Krutaya Balka, Yakovlevka, Zhabichevo, Spartak, Vasylyevka.
NATO instructors from intelligence units have also arrived in the area, they were spotted in Ochertino sector (Kiev-controlled), 13km from the contact line, where 3rd battalion of 72nd separate mechanized brigade is located.
On Gorlovka axis, Zaitsevo and Golmovskiy came under fire.
In Artyemovo (Kiev-controlled, 2km from the contact line), three Ukrainian tanks were disclosed.
In Kurdyumovka (Kiev-controlled, 8km from the contact line), Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar AN/TPQ-48 of foreign origin was spotted operating. Representative of DPR Operations Command told DAN that the radar in this area has been extensively used by the fighters of 25 separate air assault brigade for artillery fire adjustment.
Dokuchayevsk, Yasnoye and Styla were targeted. In Petrovskoye area, 12 km from the contact line, three Akatsiya self-propelled howitzers were located.
Kominternovo, Sakhanka, Leninskoye villages in DPR south came under fire as well. In vicinity of Lebedinskoye DPR intelligence spotted a drone launch site of UAV team of Azov squad.
Earlier reports said Ukrainian forces fired 340 tank gun rounds and artillery rounds aiming at DPR frontline areas. In the morning shelling on the south axis was reported. Overall 11 houses were damaged in 24 hours in Yasinovataya and Kominternovo.*ot
