Donetsk, Feb 2 - DAN. Ukrainian armed formations opened mortar fire at the south of the Donetsk People’s Republic on Wednesday morning, the DPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination reported.

Strikes were delivered at the Oktyabr village in the Novoazovsk district from the Kiev-controlled Pischevik village area. The enemy expended three 82mm mortar rounds. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.

The Oktyabr area accommodates one of the four crossing points that link the DPR with Kiev-controlled territory. The facility has not operated since the spring of 2020 due to the threat of spread of the coronavirus infection. At the present time, the contract line can be crossed via the humanitarian corridor in Yelenovka.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kiev forces also delivered a mortar strike at the Kominternovo village. In the previous 24-hour period, Ukrainian armed formations opened fire at the DPR four times.

The package of tighter ceasefire control measures has been formally in effect in Donbass since July 27, 2020. The document bans the use of any weapons, deployment of heavy armaments in and around settlements, engineer works and unmanned aerial vehicle flights.*jk
