Donetsk, Nov 22 – DAN. Ukrainian forces shelled Mayorsk checkpoint on the contact line outside Gorlovka on Monday evening, a DPR defence source told Donetsk News Agency.
“At around 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening, Ukrainian side fired at Mayorsk checkpoint area. No civilian vehicles were at the checkpoint premises as of the time of shelling, and no civilians were present in the ‘grey zone’ either,” the source said.
The checkpoint came under grenade launcher fire, the source said noting the enemy’s sniper activity in the area.
A DPR military source earlier told DAN that Ukrainian forces fired more than 140 82mm and 120mm mortar rounds at DPR territory since Monday evening.
There are currently four checkpoints in operation for pedestrian and motor traffic between Ukraine and the Donetsk People’s Republic: Elenovka-Novotroitsk (southwest of Donetsk, southern direction), Mayorsk-Mayorskoye (outside Gorlovka, northern direction), Oktaybr-Gnutovo (DPR south, southern direction) and Aleksandrovka-Maryinka (west of Donetsk, western direction).
