Donetsk, Aug 13 - DAN. A train carrying the Ukrainian army’s 57th Brigade equipment on an inland route was detained by Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) agents at the Krasnoarmeisk railway station, the Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia reported on Thursday.
“SBU agents delayed the departure of the train carrying 57th Brigade hardware at the Krasnoarmeisk railway station, after finding unaccounted for weapons and ammunition in sealed cabins,” the report said.
The 17th Battalion commander who was responsible for the train, followed Brigade commander Anatoly Mishanchuk’s order to settle the issue on the spot and paid 300,000 hryvnas without waiting for the information to reach the SBU, the DPR militia said.
Simultaneously, SBU officers at the Konstantinovka railway station detained two 57th Brigade sergeants who had on them 20 RGD-5 grenades, two MOH-50 mines and 160 9mm Makarov pistol rounds.
Earlier, the Republic’s intelligence made public the information that senior officers of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and the General Staff had been involved in massive arms trade.*jk
