Donetsk, Apr 7 - DAN. Russian armed forces have shot down five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday.
“Russia’s air defense has downed five Ukrainian drones in the areas of Novoselovka Vtoraya, Chervonaya Ukraina, Novogrodovka, Ilovaisk and Khartsyzsk,” Konashenkov said.
Ilovaisk and Khartsyzsk are settlements located deep in the DPR rear; no fighting has occurred there since 2014. Novoselovka Vtoraya has been under DPR control since February 28. The other settlements are located in Kiev-held areas.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a special operation aimed at demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine. On the same day, the forces of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics began to liberate the occupied areas of Donbass.*jk
