Donetsk, Jul 28 - DAN. No strikes at the Donetsk People’s Republic have been recorded over the first 24 hours of operation of additional ceasefire control measures in Donbass, the DPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination reported on Tuesday.

“Over the past 24 hours, no ceasefire violations by Ukrainian armed formations have been recorded,” the report said.

The package of tighter ceasefire control measures in Donbass came into force at 00:01 on July 27, 2020. The use of any armaments, including small arms by Ukraine, the DPR and the LPR is prohibited.

The Contact Group agreed the additional ceasefire control measures on July 22. The purpose of the measures is to achieve stable ceasefire until complete and comprehensive settlement of the conflict. The truce has been formally in effect for a year since July 21, 2019; previously, the parties had made more than 20 attempts to stop the civil confrontation in the region. However, strikes resumed again; in the DPR alone, nearly 5,000 people have been killed over six years of the conflict.*jk*pp
