Donetsk, Feb 2 — DAN. The territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions have been included in Russia’s Southern Military District, as follows from the interactive map of the military districts posted on the Russian Defense Ministry website.
In October 2022, the Defense Ministry did not reply to the Donetsk News Agency’s question regarding the DPR integration into the military districts structure.
Russia has the Southern, Western, Central and Eastern Military Districts and the Northern Fleet Joint Strategic Command.
The number of Russian armed forces personnel was 2,039,758 as of January 1, 2023 including 1,150,628 servicemen. It has increased by 137,000 from last year.*jk
