Donetsk, Jun 11 - DAN. Residents of three settlements in the Kiev-controlled part of Donbass found themselves shut off as Ukrainian troops mined local roads, the Donetsk People’s Republic militia said on Thursday citing intelligence reports.

“10th Brigade commander (Vasily) Zubanich ordered his engineers to mine all the roads leading to contact line settlements thus putting the local residents on the brink of survival,” the militia reported. Vodyanoye, Berdyanskoye and Lebedinskoye residents are unable to enjoy vital services. For example, in the eastern part of the Vodyanoye settlement more than 300 anti-personnel and anti-tank mines were planted.

Emergency services such as ambulance and firefighters as well as food suppliers refuse to go to settlements in the contact line area fearing to run into minefields.

The intelligence reported that despite citizens’ complaints to the Mariupol administration and commander of the “East” operations and tactical group Andrei Sokolov, the issue of mine clearance on public roads and farmland remains unresolved  and is not even considered by Ukrainian authorities.

Earlier reports said that Ukrainian army units had planted more than 1,000 anti-tank mines near two settlements on the contact line with the Donetsk People’s Republic.*jk
