Donetsk, Apr 4 - DAN. A car carrying 93rd Separate Mechanised Brigade servicemen hit a mine near the contact line, Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia spokesman Daniil Bezsonov said on Thursday.
“Ukrainian armed formations’ non-battle casualty toll continues to grow in the joint forces operation zone,” Bezsonov said. “On April 3, 93rd Separate Mechanised Brigade servicemen, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, drove into their own minefield outside the Verkhnetoretskoye settlement.”
Lieutenant N.Matsyuk and Pvt Narizhniy were wounded in a mine explosion, he added.
On top of that, Praviy Sector extremist Ukrainian Volunteer Corps Separate Assault Brigade gunman Roman Fedorishin died in a drunk driving accident on April 2 as his car overturned twice. A preliminary probe found out that the victim had been absent without leave since March 31.
“The above events were caused by lax control over personnel on the part of Ukrainian armed formations unit commanders,” the spokesman said.
Earlier reports said that five Ukrainian servicemen had died and another eight were wounded in non-battle incidents in the second week of March. In 2018, the Ukrainian army’s non-battle casualties amounted to more than 370.*jk
