Donetsk, May 24 — DAN. Clashes have begun in Krasny Liman located northeast of Slavyansk, residents of the Ukraine-occupied town confirmed to the Donetsk News Agency.
Russian army units are currently in town, but they don’t have full control of it as yet, several residents said.
Artillery is actively delivering fire. Residents have hidden in shelters amid ubiquitous impacts.
Krasny Liman (Liman settlement until 1938) is located in the north of the Donetsk People’s Republic. It is a district center and a railway hub. The town had a population of more than 20,00 before the fighting began. Settlers came to the town area in the 17th century, when the Russian state was strengthening the border service on the Seversky Donets to defend against Crimean Tatars.*jk
