Donetsk, Feb 20 - DAN. DPR intelligence recorded the arrival of Ukrainian artillery and tanks in the conflict zone on Donetsk axis, DPR armed forces spokesman Daniil Bezsonov said on Tuesday.
“A self-propelled howitzer battalion was spotted arriving in Elizavetovka village area, Maryinka district (west of Donetsk - eds Donetsk News Agency), to strengthen (Ukrainian army) 30th separate mechanised brigade,” Bezsonov said. “Tanks, artillery and manpower were seen arriving in Krasnoarmeisk area (40 km from the contact line).”
On top of that, trucks carrying ammunition and fuel and lubricants arrived in Kalinovo village area on southern axis, according to the spokesman.
The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements signed by the Contact Group on 12 February 2015 creates a 50-kilometre security zone for 100mm or larger calibre artillery systems, a security zone of 70 km wide for MLRS and 140 km wide for MLRS “Tornado-S”, Uragan, Smerch and Tactical Missile Systems Tochka. The September addendum commits the parties to withdrawing artillery pieces of calibre less than 100mm, tanks and mortars.*jk
