Donetsk, Jun 2 – DAN. Ukrainian army command launched a large-scale clampdown on defected soldiers who left their units located in Donbass, said DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin.

"In accordance with demands of the chief of the general staff of Ukraine, military law enforcement of the Ukrainian army along with commanders of units and chief enlistment officers, are tasked with launching large-scale search for soldiers who abandoned their units without permission," Basurin said.

National guard and Security service of Ukraine members arrived in Donbass to assist the search operation. For instance, National guard battalion arrived in Dzerzhinsk, three detachments of Security service special forces arrived in Kurakhovo and Krasnogorovka, a unit of National guard was located in Elizavetovka.

"All these units will act as barrier troops to prevent defectors from escaping frontline positions of the 72nd and 92nd Ukrainian army brigades."

According to DPR Command data, 10,230 Ukrainian troops defected their positions; 127 soldiers left their positions in 93 separate cases the previous week. *ot
