Donetsk, Jul 31 – DAN. Ukrainian forces have shelled the Petrovskoye disengagement area on Wednesday, the DPR People's Militia said.
"Despite assurances of Ukrainian politicians and activists on commitment to peace settlement voiced in Minsk, Ukrainian armed formations keep provoking retaliatory fire. At 7.30 p.m. members of the 88th battalion 35th marine brigade launched a 20-minute provocative attack on Petrovskoye with IFVs, grenade launchers, small arms. One round of 82mm mortar and three rounds of RPG were fired.
"Our defenders have not reacted with retaliatory fire. We demand that Ukrainian side stops escalation," the statement reads.
Earlier on Wednesday the DPR voiced hopes for a soon reestablishment of parity in disengagement areas.
An indefinite ceasefire came into force in Donbass in the night of July 20-21 as it has been agreed to by the Contact Group in Minsk.
The new ceasefire agreement includes provisions for disciplinary measures against perpetrators, ban on offensive, sabotage and reconnaissance operations, ban on any fire including sniper fire, deployment of heavy weapons to populated areas and, first of all, civilian infrastructural objects such as schools, kindergartens, hospitals and public places. *ot
