Donetsk, Aug 12 — DAN. Combat losses of the Ukrainian 14th mechanized brigade in Soledar area amount to 2,000 troops, the Russian Defence Ministry said.
“As a result of the offensive of the allied forces in the area of Soledar, the losses of the 14th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to more than two thousand people. The remnants of the personnel of the brigade were withdrawn by the Ukrainian command to the rear areas”, the statement reads.
Up to 70 pc of the listed personnel of the 56th motorized brigade were liquidated outside Opytnoye and Nevelskoye outside Donetsk, the entire 23rd battalion of the brigade defected from the combat zone to rear areas.
Half of the 3rd battalion of the 66th brigade were lost in Maryinka, a stronghold of the 58th motorized brigade with five vehicles and 40 nationalists were destroyed.
Russia started a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the decision had been made after the DPR and LPR Heads addressed him asking for help.
The Russian leader said that Moscow is not planning to occupy Ukrainian territory, the only goal is to protect people who have been continuously shelled and subjected to other forms of genocide by Ukraine for eight years. *ot
