Donetsk, Jul 27 - DAN. Nearly 250 facts of engineer works at Ukrainian armed formations’ positions have been recorded over the past year, the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported on Tuesday.
The Contact Group agreed and signed a package of tighter ceasefire control measures in Donbass on July 22, 2020. The “Measures” came into effect five days later. They ban the use of weapons, deployment of hardware, engineer works at troops positions and unmanned aerial vehicle flights.
The Ukrainian army violated the engineer works ban 248 times over the designated period using equipment on hand in 140 cases and foxhole charges in 108 cases. The first such violation was recorded in the Shumy settlement area outside Gorlovka on August 1, 2020, the report said.
“Ukrainian armed formations were organizing new positions in the area by digging under a branch of the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal, a key civil infrastructure asset. Not only did it violate the accords but also posed serious danger to the integrity of the water supplying facility,” the DPR Office said.
The largest number of violations at Ukrainian forces’ positions was committed in the areas of Vodyanoye, Avdyevka, Opytnoye, Peski, Maryinka, Krasnogorovka and Shumy, mostly on the Donetsk axis, it said.
The enemy used unmanned aerial vehicles 50 times for reconnaissance and fire adjustment over the designated period. Sniper activity was recorded as well.
Earlier on Tuesday, head of the DPR Office at the JCCC Ruslan Yakubov said that only the launching of the coordination mechanism (another condition set by the “Additional Measures” which Ukraine never met) can make Kiev answer for the strikes.*jk
