Donetsk, Sep 10 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination has urged the OSCE Mission to help obtain security guarantees from Ukraine for repairing the instrascture damaged by Ukrainian army strikes.

“Due to the current humanitarian situation along the contact line, we call on the OSCE SMM to quickly provide assistance in obtaining additional written security guarantees from the Ukrainian side at the JCCC for preventing the catastrophe that can happen if the repairs of the Republic’s power facilities do not begin immediately, as the cold season is close at hand,” the DPR Office stated on Friday.

Requests for repairs at 12 power infrastructure facilities have been forwarded since the beginning of this month, but Kiev representatives have given no answer. Over less than a month, the Ukrainian army has delivered five aimed strikes at important systems that supply electricity to DPR frontline districts.

“They are not military facilities, they aren’t even dual-purpose, they operate to meet the needs of the civilian population. Under the norms of international humanitarian law, infrastructure must not be a target in an armed conflict. However, Ukraine treats international norms the other way round,” the DPR Office said.

Earlier on Friday, DPR Head Denis Pushilin said that tensions were mounting in Donbass. He demanded mobilization of DPR forces and departments for timely response to crises.*jk
