DPR reports fire exchange with Ukrainian squad outside Gorlovka

Donetsk, Apr 5 – DAN. The DPR People's Militia has thwarted a Ukrainian saboteur squad attempt to conduct reconnaissance along the DPR border outside Shumy on Gorlovka outskirts, the Republican Defense said.

"The enemy attempted to recon mine belts in front of our positions outside Shumy. Our defenders had to use standard weapon, which are not banned under the Minsk Agreements. During the brief exchange of fire the enemy retreated," the report reads.

The incident took place on April 4. DPR engineers discovered the body of a Ukrainian soldier when inspecting the area. The deceased was identified as private Igor Bataylo, born in 1995.

"Ukrainian command conceals this death and does nothing to return the body to victim's family."

The Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire were signed at the Contact Group meeting on July 22 to reinforce and control the indefinite ceasefire in effect since July 21, 2019, the latest in the series of more than 20 reconfirmation and announcements of the “silence regime”.
