Donetsk, Oct 26 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic militiamen supported by Russian army units, have killed up to 60 Ukrainian gunmen over the past 24 hours, DPR People’s Militia deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Wednesday.
“In joint operations, DPR and Russian servicemen destroyed the following enemy equipment and hardware: a M109A3 155mm self-propelled howitzer, two tanks (T-80BV and T-64BV) and nine armored vehicles and cars; one enemy drone was shot down, ” Basurin said.
Ukrainian armed formations irrecoverable manpower losses amounted up to 60, he added.
The special military operation in Ukraine and Donbass began on February 24, 2022. Its objective is to free territories occupied by the Kiev regime. As of now, the Russian Federation control practically the whole Lugansk People’s Republic and large parts of the DPR and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.*jk
M109 is a US-made self-propelled howitzer. Designed in the 1950s-1960s, it became the primary artillery unit of U.S. troops. The upgraded M109A3 version features replaced gun carriage, air removal from the fuel system, ammunition stowage monitoring system etc. Its maximum firing range is 18 km for high-explosive fragmentation rounds and 24 kilometers for jet-propelled projectiles. The artillery piece was delivered to Ukraine from Norway.*jk
