Donetsk, Oct 14 – DAN Ukrainian forces shelled DPR frontline territories 2,060 times over the week, a DPR defense official said.
"This week an escalation along the line of contact is obsereved," deputy commander of DPR Operations Command Colonel Eduard Basurin told journalists speaking at a briefing in DAN news agency. "The enemy intentionally provokes our units to return fire. Ukrainian forces violated the ceasefire 2,060 times over the week."
Southern DPR villages of Lenonskoye, Sakhanka, Kominternovo, Bezymennoye and Novaya Tavria came under most intense fire. "The enemy shelled 28 villages and towns with artillery, tanks and mortars, DPR territory was hit 1,598 times," Basurin emphasized.
Earlier in the day Ukrainian forces attacked DPR troops in Leninskoye village area, south of the Republic. After artillery preparation with 152mm guns enemy’s units up to one company backed with mortar fire launched an offensive in Leninskoye village area.
On October, 12th Ukrainian forces attempted to break DPR defence line in Leninskoye and Kominternovo villages area in Novoazovskiy district. The enemy deployed mercenaries from Poland and Georgia. Kiev losses amounted to 15 in killed and more than 30 wounded.
Earlier DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko stated that the situation in the south frontline zone escalated dramatically as Ukrainian armed forces attack helicopter shelled DPR territory.
